Hunter Douglas

Graduate Student

I’m a Master of Engineering student in the Eltahir group, at MIT for the 2015-2016 academic year. The focus of my research is on the impacts of large-scale agriculture, particularly irrigation, on precipitation. I work closely with Ross Alter, primarily in analysing historical data.

Before joining the Eltahir group, I was a Staff Engineer with Geosyntec Consultants in Austin, Texas, where I worked mostly in stormwater management. I gained my Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil & Environmental) from Duke University in 2013, where I was a Robertson Scholar. Starting in 2016, I will be continuing my studies at the Singapore University of Technology and Design.

I grew up in New Zealand, and aim to eventually take my passion for water management back to those sunny shores. Outside of the lab, I love (among other things) hiking, climbing, photography, video production, and underwater hockey.
