Mohamed Siam

Postdoctoral Researcher

I am a second year graduate student in the Eltahir Research Group. I earned my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in 2008 and 2010, respectively, from the Civil Engineering Department at Cairo University, Egypt. During the period 2008-2010, I worked as a teaching assistant for different undergraduate courses within the Civil Engineering Department at Cairo University, including Fluid Mechanics and Statistics.

My passion, which is to understand the hydroclimatology of the Nile basin and the possible climate change impacts on it, was the main driver for my research during the last four years. My M.Sc. thesis focused on the use of statistical downscaling methods applied to general circulation models (GCMs) to estimate climate change impacts on the Nile basin. Currently, I am working on enhancing our understanding of the hydroclimatology of the Nile basin, and by doing so I aim to increase the accuracy of Regional Climate Model Version 3 (RegCM3) to simulate this region.
